Minor Hotel Group is one of the fastest growing hotel owners and operators in the world. Throughout the end of this year and next, the company will open six premier resorts and hotels in new destinations and vacation hot spots. The new properties are a part of three distinct brands under Minor Hotels’ portfolio: Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas; Avani Hotels & Resorts; and Tivoli Hotels & Resorts.

“Minor Hotels continues to follow a carefully considered growth strategy, which is centered on nurturing its key brands to enable them to continue to thrive and grow in today’s fast-moving business landscape,” said Marion Walsh-Hedouin, vice president of marketing communications and public relations for Minor Hotels. “With regards to acquisitions, our key focus is to remain opportunistic and pragmatic in the key markets that we have identified that make most sense for us. With properties in six continents and regional offices in all of these, we continue to adopt a ‘right time, right place, right fit’ mindset.”

In 2018 and 2019, Minor Hotels will open six properties that span across several countries in Africa, Asia and South America. Below, we dish all the details about these six new hotels and resorts from Minor Hotels, along with additional insight from Minor Hotels’ Walsh-Hedouin.

Anantara Marau Bahia Resort
In mid-2019, Anantara will unveil its first property in South America. Anantara Marau Bahia Resort in Brazil will feature 30 guestrooms, suites and bungalows, as well as a restaurant that serves authentic Bahian cuisine. Other features include a swimming pool, a tennis court, a gym and beach volleyball courts, positioning the resort to be a leading destination for active travelers. Adventure seekers can venture beyond the resort and partake in exploratory activities, such as scuba diving and horseback riding.

Insider Tip: “Anantara Marau is located on a deserted stretch of Atlantic coastline on the tip of the Marau Peninsula in Bahia, Brazil — home to virgin rainforest, UNESCO World Heritage sites and an incredible fusion of Afro-Brazilian culture. The coral in this area is a real highlight, and anyone visiting the peninsula shouldn’t miss snorkeling and diving in the region. Lastly, a picnic on a private castaway beach is a must.”

Anantara Quy Nhon Villas
Anantara will open its third luxury property in Vietnam in the lush, coastal city of Quy Nhon on Nov. 15. The 26-room, all-villa resort will cater to clients seeking relaxation. As such, every villa will include  complimentary butler service, luxury amenities — such as a room scent of the client’s choice — and an in-villa wine cellar. The resort will also pamper clients with its Balance Wellness concept, which offers personalized wellness treatments; a swim-up bar, which serves specialty cocktails, craft beers and Cuban cigars; and several dining options, including a Vietnamese street-food concept.

Insider Tip: “The Anantara Spa is perched high on the hillside overlooking a serene bay, and is a jungle-shrouded paradise for well-being. Nature-inspired treatment suites boast double massage beds and oversized bathtubs for nourishing coconut-milk soaks, while breezy hillside pavilions bring the art of relaxation to new heights.”

Anantara Tozeur Resort
Located in the desert oasis of Tozeur, Tunisa, Anantara Tozeur Resort will open its doors in early 2019. The 93-room resort will features deluxe guestrooms, one- and two-bedroom villas and three-bedroom royal pool villas. Other desirable amenities include a health club, an Anantara Spa and dining at multiple outlets, including an open-air, tented Arabian Nights restaurant. Clients looking for an interactive experience can visit the nearby film sites of “Star Wars: A New Hope” and “Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark.”

Insider Tip: “Clients won’t want to miss the Tozeur Oasis Festival. Every year, Tozeur comes alive with storytelling, traditional music, dancing and, of course, camel and horse racing in a celebration of desert culture. The festival has been running for four decades and is the largest cultural event in southern Tunisia.”

Avani Sunset Coast Samui Resort & Villas
Active and health-conscious travelers should head to Avani Sunset Coast Samui Resort & Villas, which will open later this month on Ko Samui, Thailand’s second-largest island. The resort will feature 58 rooms and villas with private balconies, breathtaking vistas and plunge pools. While there, guests can enjoy Boost, Balance, Calm and Purify treatments at the AvaniSpa and partake in adventures at the onsite Watersports Centre.

Insider Tip: “Avani Sunset Coast Samui is located on Taling Ngam bay, in the secluded southeast coast of the island. Guests should head out on a longtail boat to Koh Mudsum and Koh Taen and several other islands in the area. Explore and relax with snorkeling, swimming and peaceful beachside lounging.”

Tivoli Lagos Algarve Hotel
Back in July, Tivoli Lagos Algarve Hotel reopened after a five-month renovation project. The hotel features 205 newly refurbished guestrooms and suites with seaside motifs and soft colors that reflect the coastal environment. Many guestrooms offer views of the manicured Mediterranean gardens, the sea and the charming town of Lagos. Clients can relax in the serene destination and enjoy gastronomic highlights at five different venues, including La Terrazza, a new Italian restaurant with traditional pizzas, pastas and more.

Tivoli Evora Ecoresort
Just a five-minute drive from the Portuguese UNESCO World Heritage Site of Evora, Tivoli Evora Ecoresort will reopen in late September. Following renovations, the resort will include 56 suites, along with a new villa with eight guestrooms for larger families and groups. The resort will function as the ultimate “natural retreat,” featuring a spa, an indoor swimming pool, a sauna and a Turkish bath. Clients can choose from a number of dining options, such as a main restaurant that serves local fare and seasonal produce and an infinity pool that pleases all ages with freshly squeezed juices and specialty cocktails.

Insider Tip: “Tivoli Evora Ecoresort uses geothermal and solar energies as the primary sources of water heating for bathrooms, the swimming pool and guestrooms. The property produces more than 75 percent of the electrical power consumed through photovoltaic panels and recovers all the water consumed, which is then treated and used to water the gardens. In addition, the hotel has biosphere certification as the majority of suppliers and materials are sourced locally.”
