Measuring in at just 21 square miles, Bermuda is an easy destination to explore, especially with kids in tow. The island sits in the Atlantic Ocean, around 900 miles east of Charleston, S.C., and it boasts pink-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, world-class golf courses and more than 300 mysterious shipwrecks.

There’s a lot that’s new too, including an airport terminal that debuted in late 2020. Bermuda also welcomed a new airline, BermudAir, in 2023, which connects travelers to Hamilton, Bermuda from seven cities in North America.

When you’re ready to escape to this island paradise, here’s what to add to your list of things to see and do, plus suggestions for family-friendly hotels that little ones will love.

Hit the Beautiful Beaches

Bermuda has gorgeous pink-sand beaches, including Horseshoe Bay Beach and Tobacco Bay Beach. Guests at Cambridge Beaches Resort in Somerset has four private beaches on-property, and from Hamilton Princess Hotel & Beach Club, which is close to stylish Front Street in Hamilton, guests can take a free jitney shuttle to a resort beach with a tiki bar and cabanas. Across the island, families can also enjoy guided horseback rides right on the beach.

Explore Natural Caves

Bermuda has natural caves with crystal-clear saltwater pools, like Fantasy Cave and Crystal Cave, and kids will love these underground attractions for their impressive stalactites and stalagmites. Grotto Bay Beach Resort in Hamilton Parish has two-on site caves, including Cathedral Cave, which is open daily for swimming. The second cave, Prospero’s Cave, is home to the resort’s spa.

Learn About the Bermuda Triangle

Let the kids brush up on the world-famous (or rather, infamous) Bermuda Triangle at The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute. Visit the Ocean Discovery Center, which has an exhibit called “Bermuda Triangle: Unlock the Secrets.”  Steps away is Albuoy’s Point, the northern point of the Bermuda Triangle, which connects with San Juan, Puerto Rico and Miami.

Go Snorkeling

Snorkeling, whether from the beach or from a boat, is a must-do for families visiting Bermuda. Tobacco Bay and Church Bay are known for snorkeling, and you might spot midnight parrotfish here. Bring your own gear or check in with your hotel on area gear rentals. KS WaterSports offers snorkeling excursions, as well as snorkel gear rentals from several locations, including Hamilton and St. George’s. It’s also possible to pair a thrilling jet ski tour with snorkeling at colorful coral reefs.

Take the Ferry

The SeaExpress ferry service connects several points on the island, including St. George’s, Hamilton and Royal Naval Dockyard, which is where the large cruise ships dock in Bermuda. Take the ferry from Hamilton to Royal Naval Dockyard (a 20-minute ride) for kid-friendly activities like mini-golf, an escape room and segway tours. You’ll also find a playground, restaurants and a snorkel park, as well as the National Museum of Bermuda. When it’s time to settle in for the evening after a full day of fun in Bermuda, here are a couple of family-friendly hotels loved by kids and families.

Hamilton Princess Hotel & Beach Club

The 386-room Hamilton Princess Hotel & Beach Club is located at Hamilton Harbor and is steps from Front Street, a stylish avenue known for shops, cafés, museums and colorful murals. This perfectly pink hotel has several restaurants, as well as fun works of art from the likes of Pablo Picasso, Henry Matisse and Andy Warhol on display across the hotel. The hotel’s complimentary Prince & Princess Kids Club caters to children ages 5 to 12 with art, yoga, games and bubbles. Take the hotel shuttle as a family to the beach club for a day in the sand and in a sheltered cove.

St. Regis Bermuda Resort

The St. Regis Bermuda Resort, the island’s first Marriott property, opened in May 2021. From the 120-room hotel, it’s a short walk to popular attractions in St. George’s, including Fort St. Catherine, Unfinished Church and Long Story Short, a book shop that also offers guided walking and bicycle tours. The St. Regis Bermuda Resort has an on-site spa and a scenic 18-hole golf course, as well as afternoon tea service. Families will love the resort’s dedicated children’s pool, private beach and kids club and babysitting services.
