People young and old are enamored with “Bluey,” the Emmy award-winning, Australian animated show starring doggie sisters Bluey and Bingo Heeler. Whether they’re getting their parents to do silly dances in public or play imaginative games in their backyard in Brisbane, the episodes share small but relatable moments — and that relatability has brought it record-breaking numbers of viewers and adoring fans.
Australia is feeling the love, too, and Visit Brisbane has teamed up with Qantas family experiential company Camp to give away a trip to Brisbane, Bluey’s hometown, to one lucky family of four. The winners will enjoy two nights at Tangalooma Island Resort and two nights at Adina Apartment Hotel Brisbane, as well as activities, including a kayaking excursion, a “Donuts and Discovery Brisbane Walking Tour” with local operator Fit City Tours and a visit to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary via river cruise. Roundtrip airfare for four from Qantas is also part of the prize.
"Brisbane is a diverse, vibrant and fun destination, and the show has undoubtedly sparked a genuine love of Brisbane from families worldwide, who have learned so much about where their favorite Blue Heeler lives," said Anthony Ryan, CEO of the Brisbane Economic Development agency, which manages Visit Brisbane.
The giveaway times nicely with the news that Bluey World, a theme park inspired by the animated series, is set to debut in Brisbane later this year. The park will include a recreation of Bluey’s home, lots of familiar sounds and tunes from the show, a backyard to play in and more. Travelers will find the park in Northshore, Brisbane’s newest arts district.
For now, fans can sign up to win a chance to explore Brisbane themselves. Entry is open until May 15.
