Econo Lodges of America Inc. is the second-largest brand in the Choice Hotels International system, with more than 800 locations in the U.S. and abroad. The chain stresses clean, comfortable and affordable lodging in buildings with curb appeal. It targets value-conscious travelers and promotes senior-friendly programs.
Econo Lodge was the first brand in the hotel industry to introduce a housekeepers' certification program as part of an initiative with Procter & Gamble Co. and its Mr. Clean brand.
Econo Lodge hotels provide free coffee in the lobby, a complimentary Continental breakfast, free local calls and USA Today weekday newspapers. A guest laundry as well as fax and copy services are available at an extra charge. Many locations have an outdoor swimming pool. Econo Lodge recently added Wi-Fi at its U.S. locations.
Guest rooms vary from one property to another, but most are furnished with one king, two queen or two double beds. Typically, they feature a cable TV, a phone with data port, hair dryer, and an iron and ironing board. Some have a microwave and a refrigerator. There are usually some whirlpool suites, and smoke-free and handicapped-accessible rooms are in the mix.
Children 18 and younger stay free when accompanied by an adult. Discounts are available when booked in advance, space-available, for seniors, AAA members, business travelers, government and military personnel, and groups.
Frequent travelers can earn points at Choice Hotels throughout the U.S. and the Caribbean with the Choice Privileges rewards program. Points are redeemable for free nights, airline miles, credits or gift certificates from specific national retailers and restaurants. Participating Choice brands include Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality, Sleep Inn, Clarion, Cambria Suites, Suburban, Ascend Collection, MainStay Suites and Rodeway Inn.
Choice Hotels also maintains an online e-directory of specific information on accommodations and local points of interest at almost 5,000 locations.
