New Orleans may be steeped in centuries of history, but there’s always something new to experience. Here are some of the latest developments in the Big Easy.

New Hotels in New Orleans

Travelers will find a variety of fresh accommodation options in the city, including the 238-room Virgin Hotels New Orleans, which opened in 2021 in the Warehouse District, and the 83-room One11 Hotel, which is billed as the first new property to open in the French Quarter in more than 50 years.

Also new is the Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans, which recently debuted experiences including POEtraits, a one-hour program during which a guest will become the muse of local writer Chris Davenport. The hotel also offers Dinner With Impressionists, a $25,000, two-night culinary package created in partnership with local art gallery M.S. Rau.

Still to come is Caesars New Orleans, which will open next year after a multimillion-dollar overhaul of the existing Harrah’s New Orleans. The rebranded property will feature a new 340-room guest tower and will coincide with the debut of Nobu Hotel New Orleans, which opens next year within the complex.

The InterContinental Hotel New Orleans, meanwhile, has wrapped up a $3.5 million renovation of its third-floor meeting space and the 8,330-square-foot La Salle Ballroom.

New packages are available at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside, which has introduced a new Taste of New Orleans package that includes a dozen raw oysters from Drago’s Seafood for every night of the stay. The Roosevelt New Orleans, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel, is offering a $100 reward per night with its Experience the Stay package, redeemable for a variety of on-site amenities and services.

More Local Tours

Among the newest guided outings in the Big Easy is the Marigny Tour, offered by New Orleans Architecture Tours, which focuses on the Marigny, a historic neighborhood near the French Quarter. In addition, Unique NOLA Tours offers the Pestilence, Pandemic and Plague Tour, which explores how health epidemics, such as yellow fever and cholera, affected the city.
