Residence Inn by Marriott

Parent company Marriott International developed this brand to serve guests who are away from home for extended periods of time. Residence Inn seeks to create an atmosphere that maintains a balance between work and other activities.

It does this by offering roomy suites with full kitchens and sitting areas. Some include fireplaces. High-speed Internet access is standard in all rooms, along with movies and popcorn. All Marriot properties have installed thicker mattresses and luxurious designer bedding. More homey touches are complimentary such as hot breakfasts and a copy of USA Today. Residence Inn also allows pets at an additional fee.

Some services are available at Residence Inn that travelers might not find at other hotels. Guests can leave a grocery list at the front desk, for example, and ask staff to restock the refrigerators in their suites. They can also attend an evening social hour hosted by hotel management.

Residence Inns properties are in operation in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Some of these hotels offer meeting facilities, fitness centers, pools, saunas and outdoor grills.

The brand offers special discounts to senior citizens (62 or older) and to government and military personnel.

Through the Marriott Rewards program, guests can take advantage of rate discounts, sweepstakes and offers from Marriott's numerous travel partners. Express check-in and guaranteed rooms are two of the privileges of membership. Frequent travelers become "Elite" members who enjoy hotel and gift shop discounts, room-type priority, guaranteed reservations, bonus-point opportunities and room upgrades.

Sibling brands are Marriot Hotels & Resorts, Courtyard by Marriott, JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, Fairfield Inn, TownePlace Suites by Marriott, SpringHill Suites by Marriott, The Ritz-Carlton, Marriott ExecuStay and Marriott Executive Apartments.
